About the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme
Phase 3c of the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme has been announced and the application window is expected to open in Autumn 2023.
This funding is available to all public sector businesses and Phase 3 will provide over £1.425 billion of grant funding over the multiple application windows. Phase 3c will offer £230 million of government-granted funding to be made available over the financial years of 2024/25. The Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme was commissioned by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero and the Government Property Function with the aim of helping public sector businesses to decarbonise and achieve net zero.
At present, public sector buildings across the UK are valued at £515 billion and make up 2% of the UK’s total greenhouse gas emissions. This scheme will help to reduce fossil fuel emissions related to public buildings by ensuring they are decarbonising heating by replacing end of life boilers with heat pumps.
