1 February, 2023 – Following huge profits, oil giant shell has misleadingly overstated how much money it’s putting into renewable energy. Shell stated 12% of its capital expenditure was invested in renewables and energy solutions in 2021. However, following investigation, it appears that just 1.5%of capital expenditure was used to develop genuine renewables.
31 January, 2023 – A report has been released by CBI alongside the ECIU stating that almost 20,000 UK businesses are net-zero compliant. The UK’s target of net zero by 2050 is looking more promising as the economy supports more green jobs and encourages neighboring countries to follow their own net zero goals.
30 January, 2023 – UK Research and Innovation has announced £27.6 million of funding to support battery research and development projects to help grow the UK battery business. In total 17 projects across the country have received funding to help the industry grow.

SMEs believe the biggest benefit of targeting net zero is protecting the natural environment for future generations, with employee wellbeing and engagement following as other motivations.
