‘No warning’ of withdrawal of Scotland’s solar home loans

28 June, 2023 – The Scottish Government has stopped issuing interest-free loans for domestic solar photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage systems. Solar Energy UK report that this decision will slow deployment, lower the pace of decarbonisation, and tend to restrict everyone but the wealthy and middle-class from enjoying the benefits of solar power.

20 June, 2023 – Chameleon Technology partners with energy firms to deliver the Total Home Optimisation Management (THOM) Project. The THOM is part of the government’s heat pump-ready programs which aim to speed up the process of heat pump installation and raise public awareness of the benefit of cost-savings associated with heat pump installation.

Electric vehicles could balance UK power grid cheaper!

8 June, 2023 – The National Grid ESO and Octopus have joined to explore the potential of domestic vehicle-to grid-enabled EVs in balancing the UK power grid. EV’s could adjust their charging and discharging patterns to meet energy balancing requirements. This will reduce consumer bills and the dependence on carbon-intensive fuel sources.
