1 August, 2023 – The Scottish Government are receiving backlash from a major heat pump supplier for their gas boiler replacement scheme. The plans detail how the government will overhaul the current EPC ratings so that properties with green heating systems (i.e, heat pumps) will have better EPC ratings.

28 July, 2023 – In 2022, renewables accounted for a remarkable 41.4% of the UK’s total electricity, outshining the share provided by fossil fuels. The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero announced that onshore and offshore wind farms both recorded their highest-ever annual electricity volumes with wind accounting for 24.7% of generation.

Viking Link joins UK and Denmark power grids for first time

19 July, 2023 – An electricity link has been connected between Denmark and the UK. When it is completed, the two countries will be able to share enough green electricity to power up to 1.4 million UK homes. As the country’s offshore wind generation increases, the connection will be crucial for transporting clean renewable energy.

14 July, 2023 – Despite the large amount of clean energy projects receiving planning permission, there are caveats regarding grid connections. Increased grid connection delays pose a significant risk to achieving the UK’s net zero goals, with solar and wind farm projects being the most affected.
