21 October, 2022 – British Gas, UK’s largest energy supplier, aims to crack down on emissions by offering heat pump installations for £4,999 to incentivise customers to switch to green energy. Over 1,500 heat pumps have been installed nationwide with the aim to install 1,200 more within the next year.

Fracking: Tory MPs set to defy Liz Truss in loyalty vote

20 October, 2022 – The Tory government is overturning the ban on fracking, implemented by environmentalists in 2019. Last month, the UK government ended the fracking ban in England in an attempt to mitigate rising energy costs, breaking their 2019 manifesto promise. Tory MPs have been ordered to support the policy or face expulsion.

Government scales back energy plan

17 October, 2022 – A revision of the mini-budget has been issued as Jeremy Hunt steps in as the new chancellor. Part of this revision has surrounded the Energy Price Guarantee, initially stated to last two years but will now only run until April. The chancellor also stated the new approach will incorporate energy efficiency.

12 October, 2022 – Due to the energy crisis and the growing demand, many solar panel firms in Scotland are being overwhelmed with interest. One company shared that they were seeing enquires for solar panels triple, and as a result are now taking on extra staff to be able to meet the demands from customers.
