Battery to store electricity for 90,000 homes

24 January, 2024 – A facility to store electricity is being built near Buxton to take pressure off the National Grid. It will store surplus electricity generated from green sources like wind turbines. The Buxton Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) will have the capacity to store enough energy to power 90,000 homes for two hours.
