31 January, 2024 – The UK has issued 24 license areas across the North Sea to extend the life of oil and gas reserves. 17 oil companies including the likes of Shell and BP have been granted these licenses. Environmentalists have called the move “grossly irresponsible” as we are backpedalling towards net zero.

It will store surplus electricity generated from green sources like wind turbines.
